Here are thoughts on the learning street, based within the learning village....
A group of 12 kids meets daily for 2-6 hours, after school. Sometimes the same kids sometimes different kids. Each is accompanied by a parent or guardian to the location - playground, park, theatre, event, activity, museum - where half the adults stay with the kids and half are free to do their own thing. In a long activity some or all the adults might swap over at half time. Essentially it is parent led, but only half of the time by you, half by others.
The kids do activities, you can be with your child or with other kids, sharing your passions and energy.
There maybe opportunity to eat, perhaps cook even, together at lunch, and or the evening meal, and for the food, other parents are welcome to join and to eat together as a larger group. Its a bit like a vrey friendly parent led kindergarten, school or hort group .... (?)
One afternoon a week up to 12 groups meet at the same venue, a location that can have 144 kids actively engaged in groups of 12, with some overlap, for example Laaberg, Zoo or Westside Soccer.
Once a month, up to 12 groups of 144 get together, somewhere like a theatre, or the Tech Museum.
Once a quarter up to 12 groups of 12x144 get together ( so that all the kids in the village get to mingle with all the other kids in the village ) at a Football Stadium or a concert sound check for example.
Parents are connected through profiles and online etc, kids also over time online and through yearbooks.
Collective Wisdom is built and shared
