Let's build a community peace center in Uganda!

Hi, I'm Nigel
After a career in IT sales and more, in 2017 I founded The Learning Street in Vienna with some friends. We "nurture learning communities".
What does that mean? We work to support Community Based Organisations, Youth Led Organisations, and Refugee Led Organisations in places like Uganda, Kenya and Sierra Leone.
With our fast internet in Europe and North America we are able to do in seconds, literally, what takes our friends in Africa .... , well actually they just cannot do it - with their smart phones on relatively expensive data bundles and with intermittent power to charge their devices. Oh, and no light to read by at night, and no books for their kids to read anyway.
Gervin is one of the people we are passionately committed to support.
His story is summarised in the slide above, and is told in more detail on his linkedin page here. He is contactable on facebook here .
In one of our early conversations last year he told of the football team he has with some 40-50 kids. Playing with ONE ball.
He also shared his intention to develop his Peace Training activities and to fulfil his dream of having a Community Peace Centre. He lives in Nakivale Refugee camp by the way, as a refugee, and serves his local community, of refugees.
We invite you to hear one of his Peace Training sessions at a computer near you, see here for a schedule of dates ( coming soon ). One of the other events we plan to run at the Peace Centre is a Saturday morning Children's Cinema Club , as started in Vienna. Gervin is seeking an alternative venue to use for this while the Peace Centre is being built.
If you wish to support him financially by making an investment here at gofundme in his projects, he, and I, and his community, would be most thankful.
in happiness with love for peace

ps. Trust is important. We trust Gervin to use any investments wisely for the good of his community and his projects. Beyond that we will share progress and use of funds transparently with you here. The first 150 euros is earmarked to purchase footballs for the kids, for example.
